This is the second Part of the Level 2 Advanced qualification in the event group of Sprints Relays and Hurdles.
To undertake Level 2 Advanced – Part B Sprints Relays and Hurdles, you must already have completed Level 2 Advanced Part A or Level 3.
This event group focuses on developing your coaching skills in the areas of Sprints up to 400m, Starts, Relays, Short Hurdles sprints and 400m hurdles.
This course is a mix of practical and theory and offers a variety of skills and drills to develop the technical model in all sprint events.
This course is ideal for those wishing to specialise in the area of Sprints, Relays and Hurdles and working with athletes aged 12 and up.
Pre requisite for this course is to be Level 2 Intermediate Club coach, as well as having already completed Level 2 Advanced Part A, or be a Level 3 coach in another event group.

This is the second Part of the Level 2 Advanced qualification in the event group of Middle and Long Distance.
To undertake Level 2 Advanced – Part B Middle and Long Distance, you must already have completed Level 2 Advanced Part A or Level 3.
This event group focuses on developing your coaching skills in the areas of 800m + and steeple chase events.
This course is a mix of practical and theory and offers a variety of skills and drills to develop the technical model in all middle and long distance events.
This course is ideal for those wishing to specialise in the area of Middle and Long distance and working with athletes aged 12 and up.
Pre requisite for this course is to be Level 2 Intermediate Club coach, as well as having already completed Level 2 Advanced Part A, or be a Level 3 coach in another event group.
Course Fee for Part B only – $192.50 Part A must be completed before Part B. Please also register for Part A if you have not yet completed that course.
This is the second Part of the Level 2 Advanced qualification in the event group of Jumps.
To undertake Level 2 Advanced – Part B Jumps, you must already have completed Level 2 Advanced Part A or Level 3.
This event group focuses on developing your coaching skills in the areas of Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump and introduces you to coaching Pole Vault.
This course is a mix of practical and theory and offers a variety of skills and drills to develop the technical model in all Jump events.
This course is ideal for those wishing to specialise in the area of jumps and working with athletes aged 12 and up.
Pre requisite for this course is to be Level 2 Intermediate Club coach, as well as having already completed Level 2 Advanced Part A, or be a Level 3 coach in another event group.
Level 2 Advanced Recreational Running Coach further develops the concepts introduced at the intermediate course as well as introducing the areas of advanced programming, nutrition, running technique, conditioning and biomechanics. P

The Level 1 Community Athletics Coach course focuses on developing the coach’s human management skills and understanding of physical literacy and how it can be improved based on the ‘Teaching Games for Understanding’ model of sports development. The course instructs how to coach the fundamental skills of Run, Jump and Throw in beginning athletes to prepare them for future Track and Field success, which must be understood before event-specific coaching can be developed.
This qualification is certified by the Australian Sports Commission and allows participants to be nationally accredited as a community coach which is transferable to other sports engaging in the community coach program.
There is pre-course work for this course which can be accessed here and must be completed prior to attending the course. The two units to undertake are Community Coaching General Principles and Play by the Rules, Child Protection module. You need to set up a login and then enroll in the two modules – they are both free of charge.
Post-Course Assessment Tasks: After completing the face-to-face component of the course you are required to successfully complete the Session Planning Assignment and self Reflection requirements prior to receiving your coaching accreditation.

The Australian Sports Commission’s ‘Sporting Schools’ programme, offers students in primary schools access to sport based activities before, during or after school. As of Term 3 2015, Sporting Schools will be available to every primary school in Australia.
Athletics Australia delivers IAAF Kids’ Athletics through the Sporting Schools programme which allows children to explore and develop the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing.
Sporting Schools will be delivered in schools before, during and after school hours and all coaches will be paid for their involvement.
The IAAF Kids’ Athletics Upskilling Program will give Coaches the skills to teach children the core fundamentals of athletics – running, jumping and throwing – using modified equipment with a focus on fun and following the IAAF’s successful global framework.
To be accredited to coach as part of the Sporting Schools athletics programme, you need to be a registered coach with Athletics Australia and undertake this upskilling course. See http://www.athletics.com.au/Coaches/Sporting-Schools for more details about getting registered.
Once you have successfully passed the IAAF Kids’ Athletics Upskilling Course you will be an endorsed Athletics Provider in Sporting Schools.

Successfully completed Level 1 Community Athletic Coaching Course or granted Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) by Athletics Australia
A minimum of 30 hours coaching experience after completing the Level 1 Community Athletics Coaching Course
Completion of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Play by the Rules online course, Harassment & Discrimination and the Certificate of Completion either submitted to the facilitator on the day of the course or emailed to Blair Taylor at Athletics Australia (blair.taylor@athletics.org.au). All participants must complete the online module prior to the practical component of the course. You can login to the online learning portal to complete relevant pre-course work here.
The Level 2 Intermediate Club Coach Course is the next progression from Level 1 Community Athletics Coach. It is designed to develop event specific skills and drills and an understanding of the basic technical model of the below events for an athletes participation in athletics at club level and school competition.
The event groups covered are:
• Sprints & relays
• Hurdles
• Middle & Long Distance up to 5000m (excluding steeple chase/walks is an online component of the course)
• Jumps (excluding pole vault)
• Throws (excluding hammer)
In addition coaches are introduced to training principles, Components of Fitness and programming and evaluation skills are further developed.
