Hello everyone,
The Athletics Victoria Sport Delivery team has been busy behind the scenes working on several options as we look to investigate a staged return to events in the coming months. In addition to these tasks, we are focused on keeping our members updated. In the coming weeks, we will provide a summary of the things the team have been working on and how it will influence you and your club. The team is continuously monitoring the information and updates provided by the state government and will continue to review regularly.
As per the state governments announcements from last week, a gradual easing of restrictions is planned for several areas, including sport and recreation. If all things progress well, we hope that there will be further easing on mass gatherings and events over the coming weeks.
In preparation, we are looking at the potential number of people allowed in certain areas, both in and out of competition, and how that will change. The way you enter races will change. The way you compete will change. The way parents, guardians, coaches, club friends and Club Managers have supported you from the sidelines will change.
While these changes, and more to be announced shortly, are different from the way it has been, they will enable us to provide an excellent XCR experience, one we’ve all missed.
It is the core focus of Athletics Victoria that you, our members, are safe and to do this we must be cautious. For each touchpoint, discipline and event Athletics Victoria Sport Delivery complete a meticulous risk assessment process, in line with government requirements.
In the coming weeks, we will share the operational changes that will affect how we all go about our business on race days.
