Sport and Recreation Victoria Update – June 4, 2020

Following some feedback from my message of 2 June 2020 regarding the easing of restrictions for sport and recreation, we’ve clarified the advice for clubhouses and pavilions at community sporting clubs so it is clear what can and cannot open under the updated restrictions from 1 June.

Club houses may reopen to operate a restaurant, canteen or cafe with a maximum of 20 people in a single indoor space and subject to the four per square metre rule within these facilities and must adhere to the restrictions on restaurants and cafes. The facility operator must main on site whenever open to ensure group numbers do not exceed capacity.

There is no use of communal showers or change rooms, however toilets can open.

Detailed guidelines of the requirements for cafes, restaurants and food and drink facilities to reopen are available on the Business Victoria website.

Fact sheets are now available for community sport to support players, coaches, volunteers and clubs in understanding the new restrictions from 1 June. These printable fact sheets are now available for download on the Return to Play for Community Sport webpage on the SRV website.

As always, please visit the DHHS website and SRV website to read the latest information on coronavirus (COVID-19) and restrictions on sport and recreation. For any additional queries, please contact the DHHS COVID-19 hotline 1800 675 398 and select option two to speak to someone who can help or email info@sport.vic.gov.au.
