AVSL Round 2 Cancelled in Geelong (15/10/22, 9:00am)
Athletics Victoria have been contacted by Geelong Athletics, who have this morning (15/10/22) confirmed that due to rising floodwaters Landy Field is not able to host AVSL Round 2. As such, all AVSL competition in Geelong is cancelled today. For those participants entered in Geelong, unfortunately there will not be an opportunity to compete at a metro venue due to capacity and timetabling factors.
At this stage, AV are reviewing options to reschedule Geelong’s Round 2 of AVSL to a later date. This means that AVSL point scoring will still be tallied for all other venues today, although if AV are unable to reschedule, the tallied scores will not stand for Round 2 and any played Powerplays will be returned to their club (as per rule 6.8 in the AVSL Rules).
Please ensure you take the time to read the up-to-date AVSL Members Guide and check out the Round 2 Event Page to ensure you have all the information required for this weekend’s competition.
Important Updates Regarding AVSL Round 3
As a result of the extensive flooding at the Moonee Valley Athletics Track (Aberfeldie), Moonee Valley Council have informed Athletics Victoria that the track will be closed until a full assessment can be carried out. As a result, the Zone A competition will be relocated to Doncaster for AVSL Round 3. AVSL is not due to return to the Moonee Valley Athletics Track until Round 7 (Saturday 17 December) and Athletics Victoria will continue to work with Athletics Essendon and the Moonee Valley Council in order to get the track back up and running as soon as possible.
If you wish to remove your entry due to the change of location, please email sportdelivery@athsvic.org.au with your name and events you wish to withdraw from.
