Return to Play Update from Athletics Victoria – 17 June 2020

The Victorian government has issued further information on easing of restrictions that will come into effect on 22 June, 13 July and 20 July. These involve non-contact and contact sport and return to competition.

However, the information provided on the DHHS website is (in parts) unclear, and we have asked for confirmation from the government as it deals with the return to competition for contact and non-contact sports.

At present, competitions are not permitted.

However, from 11.59 pm on 21 June contact sports training and competition can resume for people 18 years old or younger. AV has been advised there are no restrictions for people 18 years old or younger.

Gathering rules will apply to spectators. For adults returning to competition, the information from DHHS is contradictory, and we have asked for confirmation.

AV has been working on several options for a return to competition which includes a revised XCR series for Schools and AV Club Members. This is in addition to the winter walks schedule. We will provide more information to our stakeholders in the coming days.

We will also confirm the position on return to competition for adults. For more information, please refer to the DHHS website
