2019 Victorian Masters Track & Field Championships

The Victorian Masters Track & Field Championships will again take place at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster in 2019. There are events for all abilities to enter and athletes will compete in five year age groups from 30+

2018 Victorian Track Relay Championships


General Information

The Victorian Track Relay Championships will be held at Hagenauer Reserve in 2018.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships is a club based competition that offers relays from 4×100 to 4x1500m with the 4x400m (Open Men, Women & Mixed) finals being run at the Zatopek:10 on Thursday 13th December 2018.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships are a fantastic opportunity for clubs to recruit club members by competing in a team based competition.

Refunds

Full Competition Rules

All 4x1500m team check in forms must be submitted by MIDDAY FRIDAY 23rd NOVEMBER. Any 4x1500m team check in forms not received prior to this time will be scratched from the event.

Teams may bring all other relay check in forms on the day. These must be handed into administration no later than 90 minutes prior to the first round of their event. Any team that does not check in by this time will be scratched from the event.

Should any team run any athletes in a different order to what was signed and submitted on their team sheet they will be disqualified from that race.

Substitutions

Any Substitutions that are required during the day can be made by filling out a form and lodging it 30 minutes prior to the race at administration.

Age Groups

Age groups are taken from the 31st of December 2018

Eligibility of Teams:

All athletes must be registered and approved AV members by 11:59am Wednesday 21st November, 2018 to be eligible to compete in this relays event.

Athletes can only compete in their gender specific teams. There is a mixed open 4x400m event, but no other events will mixed gender races or teams be allowed.

Competing athletes must represent their primary club. Where athletes have selected a secondary club (by purchasing an alternate first claim with membership) the athlete must represent their summer club.

Athletes qualifying under Rule 5.3 must wear the official registered uniform of their first claim summer club, with their current bib numbers, as supplied by Athletics Victoria, securely fixed at the four corners to their competition uniform. They shall be worn visibly on the breast and back.

Athletes wishing to compete in different age groups must follow the below rules:

  • No athlete can compete in a lower age group than they are eligible for e.g. (U16 cannot run in an U14 event).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 may compete in their age group as well as the open age group e.g. (U16 can compete in the U16 4×100 and the Open 4×100).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 cannot compete in the same event in two junior age groups e.g. (U14 cannot compete in U14 4×100 and the U16 4×100).
  • A junior athlete can compete in two different junior age groups in two different events e.g. (U14 4×100 and an U16 4×400).

Masters Age Group Rules:

  • Age is taken from first day of competition – 24 November 2018.
  • Can only compete once in a particular type of relay eg 4x100m.
  • To form a team an athlete can move down to a younger age group but not up.
  • The age bracket of the team is determined by the youngest member of the team.
  • An athlete can compete in a different age bracket in a different type of relay.
  • Teams can run in any order.
  • All teams must wear their Club uniform and be a registered financial member of AV on the day of competition.
  • To set Masters Records all members of a team must be a VMA member.

Uniform & Bibs:

All athletes competing at the 2018 Victorian Relay Championships must wear their current club uniform and current 2018/19 Athletics Victoria bib numbers. If you forget your bib please go to the administration area to receive a new one. All athletes must compete in AV bibs, if an athlete has registered as an AV Member but has not been assigned a Bib when visiting the Administration Area AV staff will assign you a temporary Bib Number for the day.

Call Room:

A Call Room will be in place for the 4x100m relays (Heats and Finals). This will be located on the infield. All athletes must marshal at this point no later than 15mins prior to their event.

For all other relay events athletes must marshal at their changeover points no later than 15mins prior to their event.

Straight Finals:

In the situation where enough scratching’s can cause events to no longer require heats, the final will be held at the final time. These announcements will be made 60 minutes prior to the event start time to allow Team Managers time to substitute athletes if need be.

First Aid

St Johns Ambulance will be on site throughout the day. They will be in the player runway which is located halfway down home straight.

Toilet facilities

There are toilet facilities open around Hagenauer Reserve.

Car Parking

Limited Car parking is available off Barwon Street.

Looking after Lakeside Stadium

We are very grateful for the opportunity to compete at Hagenauer Reserve.

  • Park only in designated parking bays
  • Take home all rubbish so that we leave the venue as we found it.
  • Do not litter any rubbish. Please use bins provided.
  • Make sure your athletes leave the toilet blocks in a respectable state.

Call Room: Please note there will be no Call Room for this event – all athletes are required to marshal at the start line/event 15 mins prior to the start of their event.

Age: As of first day of competition, 24th March 2018

TRACK
In events where athletes are required to run a set IAAF distance, athletes must show a distinct effort to complete the course/distance based on the premise that this is a running event. Athletes who walk for prolonged periods will be asked to remove themselves from the track.

If an event is scheduled as a timed final, athletes will be seeded based on recent seasons best performances. Seed times can be provided on the day when signing in.

Start Rules:

  1. Masters athletes are not required to use starting blocks and do not need to start from a crouched position or have both hands in contact with track.
  2. In any race, athletes who are charged with a false start, as determined by the head starter, shall be warned. Athletes who are charged with a second false start in the same race shall be disqualified.
  3. Two or more age groups, men and women, may compete together provided there are separate results for each group.

Hurdles: Competitors in hurdling events must hurdle with a continuous motion thus ensuring that both feet must be off the ground for at least an instant.

Starting Blocks: Masters athletes are not required to use starting blocks and do not need to start from a crouched position or have both hands in contact with track.

Steeplechase: In steeplechase events, competitor may hurdle or vault the barriers or step on the top rail in continuous motion but may not climb them. The hands or feet may touch only the top surface of the barrier and no other part of the body may touch any part of the barriers.

Lap Scorers: Athletes competing in any event that is 3000m or longer must provide a lap scorer for the duration of their race.

THROWS

Two hands must be used to throw the hammer and weight throw.

POLE VAULT & HIGH JUMP

  1. Both feet must be off the ground during the vault or jump.
  2. Masters’ competitors are allowed to touch the landing area before clearing the bar but may not use the landing area to any advantage as determined by the Field Judge.
  3. When a high jump or pole vault competition includes competitors in different age groups and there is only one competitor left in an age group, that competitor shall have the right to have the height of the bar raised in terms of applicable IAAF rules, even though other competitors in other age groups may still be competing. Said competitors must continue in the normal progression and may not jump at these special heights.
  4. Only one number is required to be worn by competitors in the high jump and pole vault.
  5. Competitors will be split based on their seasons best as provided at entry. Athletes from the same age group may compete at various times of the day. As such medals will not be given until all competitors in that age group have finished competing. Please review the High Jump allocations here or the Pole Vault allocations here.

UNIFORM

Athletes must wear their club/affiliate or their Masters Athletic Uniform

Colour Coded Competition Bibs: Competition numbers are colour coded by age group to provide quicker and easier identification of competitors from a distance. A competitor’s age group is indicated by the first 2 digits of the competition number, as well as the background colour.

Spikes: Must not exceed 7mm (track) and 9mm (field). Conical, pyramid & Christmas tree are permitted. Needle or pin spikes are not permitted.

Protests: Protests can be made within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the result. The protest must be accompanied with a deposit of $50.00 which will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld. These can be submitted to the administration area.

Weather Policy: In the event of extreme heat during the weekend, please note Athletics Victoria may modify the program for the safety of athletes, officials and spectators. If this is to happen Athletics Victoria will communicate this as soon as possible via the AV website, social media and email to all participants. We would like to make sure all athletes, officials and spectators stay hydrated, wear protective clothing, and wear sunscreen and a hat.

2018 Victorian Open and Para Track & Field Championships

Athletes must report to the athlete TIC AREA no later than 1 HOUR PRIOR to the start time of the first round of each event they have entered and sign in. Victorian Open Championship Results

The Victorian Open and Para Track & Field Championships have returned to a standalone weekend in the Victorian Championships schedule. With the Commonwealth Games being held on the Gold Coast in 2018, Athletics Australia have split the Open and Junior National Championships for this year from the original format in 2017. Athletics Victoria has replicated and aligned with Athletics Australia for the Victorian Championships with the Junior and Open Championships running on two separate weekends at Lakeside Stadium consecutively.

AV Masters Track & Field Championships – Doncaster

Competition Rules

Competition: All events shall be conducted in accordance with the rules of the IAAF and Athletics Victoria.

Check-In:  Athletes must report to the athlete TIC AREA no later than 1 HOUR PRIOR to the start time of the first round of each event they have entered and sign in. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. If you are running late for any reason and wish to contact a member of the Athletics Victoria staff on the day please contact 0447 202 160.

Note: Pole Vault athletes are to check in 90 minutes prior to their event start time.

In the case of insufficient athletes reporting to the athlete tic area by the required time for the need to conduct heats or semi finals, then all athletes who reported will progress to the final which will be held at the scheduled FINAL TIME.

Uniforms: Athletes must be attired in their official registered uniform of their first claim Athletics Victoria club uniform with their current athletics victoria registration numbers firmly affixed so the entire number and sponsorship information can be easily read. (refer IAAF rule 18). The victory ceremony is considered part of the competition. Athletes competing by invitation must compete in their club, state or national uniform.

Entry Numbers: Only one (1) entry is required for an event to be included on the program. However to provide competition, events may be combined with a similar event if available.

Clash of Events: If an athlete has a “clash of events”, they will need to fill out a “clash of events” form out which can be found in the call room.

Scratchings: Any athlete who competes in a round of an event in the championships and qualifies for a subsequent round then withdraws from that event, without a medical certificate, WILL NOT be permitted to compete in any other event during the championships.

Footwear: At Lakeside, the part which projects from the sole or heel must not exceed 7mm for track events and 9mm for all field events. Pyramid and Christmas Tree spikes are permitted, needle or pin spikes are not permitted.

Private Implements: Only implements provided and previously tested by the technical officer may be used. Athletes wishing to use private implements must lodge them with the technical officer on duty AT LEAST 2 HOURS PRIOR to the scheduled starting time of the event. The implement will be retained until the completion of that event and will be available for all athletes in that event to use.

Starting Blocks: The use of starting blocks is compulsory for all open athletes competing in events up to and including 400m.

Call Room: All athletes are required to report to the CALL ROOM prior to any event in which they will compete (heats,  semi finals and finals), dressed in their competition uniform and ready to compete.

Please note that ONLY ATHLETES and approved OFFICIALS will be allowed in the Call Room.

In the Call Room athletes will be marshalled and their competition uniforms, bib number(s), hip numbers (if applicable), shoes and other equipment checked to ensure they comply with competition rules. Once athletes have checked-in at the Call Room, they are not permitted to leave the Call Room until they proceed to the start of the event, accompanied by a marshall. Athletes who do not proceed to the start of the event accompanied by a marshall will not be allowed to compete, unless they had received prior approval.

If an athlete is likely to have a clash of events, the athlete must notify the Call Room of this at the time of reporting in for the first of their scheduled events.

Field Attempts: Field Events will have 3 attempts, with the top 8 to then get 3 more attempts. If the event is split into 2 pools due to large numbers the top 8 athletes between both pools will be eligible to get the next attempt(s). If the top 8 are in different pools they will complete the extra attempts in the same pool they have already been competing in.

Leg Numbers: Athletes in events 800m or longer will be required to wear a leg number to assist the photo finish operator in identifying athletes. Leg numbers will be distributed at the start line during the marshalling period.

**The competition director may decide to conduct a straight final where there are less than 16 athletes registered in Round 1 of the 1500 metres. A final will be run with 15 athletes at Final Time

Withdrawals: Any athlete who competes in any round of an event in a championship, and qualifies for a subsequent round, but withdraws without a signed medical certificate, will not be permitted to compete in any event conducted by Athletics Victoria for a period of 14 days from the date of the event in which the athlete failed to compete. The medical certificate does not have to be produced for the athlete to scratch from the event but must be produced within seven days or before the next event the athlete competes in (whichever is the sooner) to the Athletics Victoria office. If the medical certificate is produced during the championship it must be given to the Administration Delegate.

Medals: Presentations will be made as soon as possible after the event. All placegetters are asked to assist with this procedure by going with an official at the completion of the event to the ceremonial area. Each athlete must wear either their competition singlet or tracksuit top for the victory ceremony. Medallions will be presented to competitors placed first, second and third. Invitational medals will be given to any thletes who compete and place in the top 3 before current Athletics Victoria members.

Multi Class Athletes: All Para events will be conducted in Ambulant, Wheelchair & Secured categories. Each athlete’s performance will be compared for his or her classification and converted to a percentage to determine the finishing order in each event.

Protests: Any enquires regarding entries; check-in or reporting at the championships on the days of competition shall be made to the administration delegate or competition manager.

Any protest regarding the competition, shall in the first instance, be made orally to the referee by the athlete or by a person acting on his/her behalf, within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the result. The referee may decide on the protest or may refer the matter to the jury of appeal. If the referee makes a decision, the athlete may appeal to the jury within 30 minutes.

Appeals must be in writing, signed by the athlete (or a responsible adult on behalf of the athlete) and submitted to the administration manager located in the administration area.  The protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $50.00 which may be forfeited should the protest be considered frivolous (IAAF rule 146).  Protest/appeal forms are available at administration area.

Competition: All events shall be conducted in accordance with the rules of the IAAF and Athletics Victoria.

Check In: Athletes must report to the athlete TIC AREA no later than 1 HOUR PRIOR to the start time of the first round of each event they have entered and sign in. Pole Vault is 90 minutes prior. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. If you are running late for any reason and wish to contact a member of the Athletics Victoria staff on the day please contact 0447 202 160.

In the case of insufficient athletes reporting to the Check-In area by the required time for the need to    conduct heats or semi finals, then all athletes who reported will progress to the final which will be held at the scheduled HEAT TIME unless specified otherwise by the Championship Committee.

Similar Events: A competitor may not officially enter the same or similar event in more than one age group on the same weekend.

Entry Numbers: Only one (1) entry is required for an event to be included on the program. However to provide competition, events may be combined with a similar event/age group if available.

Field Events: The minimum age to compete in hammer and pole vault is 12 years of age. Athletes who are 12 or 13 years of age should not take part in these events unless they have received relevant coaching and advice from a recognized coach experienced in these events, prior to the day of competition.

Clash of Events: If an athlete has a “clash of events” they will need to report to the official at the competition area of their second event to let them know they will be late due to a clash with another event. Please see the IAAF ruling that will be followed below for a “clash of events”.

Rule 142.3.  If an athlete is entered in both a Track Event and Field Event, or in more than one Field Event taking place simultaneously, the appropriate Referee may, for one round of trials at a time, or for each trial in the High Jump and Pole Vault, allow an athlete to take his/her trial in an order different from that decided upon by the draw prior to the start of the competition. However, if an athlete subsequently is not present for a particular trial, it shall be deemed that he/she is passing once the period allowed for the trial has elapsed. Athletes who arrive late must enter the competition in the round that the competition has progressed to and without the benefit of using the runway or circle for the purposes of warmup. In all cases no Athlete is entitled to makeup the trials.

Scratching’s: Any athlete who competes in a round of an event in the championships and qualifies for a subsequent round then withdraws from that event, without a medical certificate, WILL NOT be permitted to compete in any other event during the championships, including relays.

Uniform: Athletes must be attired in their official registered uniform of their first claim Athletics Victoria club uniform with their current Athletics Victoria bib numbers. Athletes who are competing from out of state must compete in their club, state or national uniform. JDS athletes will be competing in their LAVic club uniform. Uniform will be checked in Call Room and if you are not in the correct attire you may be disqualified from competing. No Victorian Team uniform is to be worn while competing at the Victorian Juniors.

Call Room: All athletes must report to the CALL ROOM prior to their event. The closing times for reporting the Call Room are below:

In the Call Room athletes will be marshalled and their competition uniforms, bib number(s), hip numbers (if applicable), shoes and other equipment checked to ensure they comply with competition rules. Once athletes have checked-in at the Call Room, they are not permitted to leave the Call Room until they proceed to the start of the event, accompanied by a marshall. Athletes who do not proceed to the start of the event accompanied by a marshall will not be allowed to compete, unless they had received prior approval.

If an athlete is likely to have a clash of events, the athlete must notify the Call Room of this at the time of reporting in for their first scheduled events.

Footwear: At Lakeside, the part which projects from the sole or heel must not exceed 7mm for track events and 9mm for all field events. Pyramid and Christmas Tree spikes are permitted, needle or pin spikes are not permitted.

Personal Implements: Only implements provided and previously tested by the technical officer may be used. Athletes wishing to use private implements must lodge them with the technical officer on duty AT LEAST 2 HOURS PRIOR to the scheduled starting time of the event. The implement will be retained until the completion of that event and will be available for all athletes in that event to use.

Please note: Pole Vault athletes must bring their own pole to compete with. Athletics Victoria does not provide any athletes with a pole for this event.

Starting Blocks: The use of starting blocks is compulsory for all underage athletes competing in events up to and including 400m. Only starting blocks supplied by Lakeside Stadium will be permitted for use.

Leg Numbers: Athletes in events 800m or longer will be required to wear a leg number to assist the photo finish operator in identifying athletes. Leg numbers will be distributed either at the Call Room or at the start line during the marshalling period.

Pit Lane: Pit lane will be operational for all U17, U18 and U20 Men and Women walks events this weekend. These age groups will also have pit lane at National Juniors.

Field Attempts:

  • U17-U20 will have 3 attempts, with the top 8 to then get 3 more attempts
  • U14-U16 will have 3 attempts, with the top 8 to then get 1 more attempt.
  • If your event is split into 2 pools due to large numbers the top 8 athletes between both pools will be eligible to get the next attempt(s). If the top are in different pools they will complete the extra attempts in the same pool they have already been competing in.

Medals: Presentations will be made as soon as possible after the event. All placegetters are asked to assist with this procedure by going with an official at the completion of the event to the ceremonial area. Each athlete must wear either their competition singlet or tracksuit top for the victory ceremony. Medallions will be presented to Victorian competitors placed first, second and third. Invitational (JDS, interstate/national) athletes will receive an invitational medal if they place in the top three (3) before current Athletics Victoria members.

Multi Class Athletes: Multi Class Athletes will compete together in the same event, but will be separated into the U16 and U20 age groups for results purposes. Results will be put into the current MDS tables supplied by Athletics Australia. Medals will be awarded in gender and age groups (U16 & U20) throughout the weekend.

Straight sprint heats/finals may consist of 10 athletes due to large entry numbers. If only 10 athletes check-in for a heat it will go to a straight final at HEAT TIME.If not enough athletes check-in for there to be heats and finals then the final will be run at HEAT TIME. Important please note:

  • 1500m events: For age groups which have heats and finals listed if only 15 athletes check-in we will run the event as a straight final at HEAT TIME.
  • 800m events: If only 10 athletes check-in for these events we will run this as a straight final at HEAT TIME.
  • It is at the discretion of Athletics Victoria and the Competition Director on the day of competition to make any changes to the above rules.

In the event of entry into the finals being decided on time and where more than the required number of athletes have the same qualifying time, and where the number of qualifiers exceeds the number of lanes available, Athletics Victoria reserves the right to limit the field to less than the number of lanes available.

For events with two or more rounds, invitation athletes can only make up 50% of the final field, therefore a  maximum of four invitation athletes can progress through to a track final. This also applies to the extra three attempts in relevant field events; only four invitation athletes can progress through to the additional throws/jumps round. If there are not enough Victorian registered athletes to fill 50% of the final, invitation athletes will be progressed.

 Weather Policy: In the event of extreme heat during the weekend, please note Athletics Victoria may modify the program for the safety of athletes, officials and spectators. If this is to happen Athletics Victoria will communicate this as soon as possible via the AV website, social media and email to all participants.

False Start Rule: In all track events a competitor will be disqualified when he/she has recorded one (1) false start in an event (IAAF Rule 162.7). Please note: U14 age groups will be disqualified after two (2) false starts.

Protests: 

  • Any enquires regarding entries; check-in or reporting at the championships on the days of competition shall be made to the administration delegate or competition manager.
  • Any protest regarding the competition, shall in the first instance, be made orally to the referee by the athlete or by a person acting on his/her behalf, within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the result.

The referee may decide on the protest or may refer the matter to the jury of appeal.  If the referee makes a decision, the athlete may appeal to the jury within 30 minutes.

Appeals must be in writing, signed by the athlete (or a responsible adult on behalf of the athlete) and submitted to the administration manager located in the administration area.  The protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $50.00 which may be forfeited should the protest be considered frivolous (IAAF rule 146).  Protest/appeal forms are available at administration area.

Age Groups

Para Athletes: Athletes will compete together in the same event, but will be separated into the U16 (Year of Birth – 2003,04,05,06,07) and U20 (Year of Birth – 1999,2000,01,02) age groups for results purposes. Results will be put into the current MDS tables supplied by Athletics Australia. Medals will be awarded in gender and age groups (U16 & U20) throughout the weekend.

National Juniors Eligibility

To be eligible to participate at the Australian Junior Track & Field championships you must compete in at least one event at the Victorian Junior Track & Field Championships and be a member of Athletics Victoria and an Athletics Victoria affiliated club.

If you have competed at the Victorian Junior Track & Field Championships you must then meet one of the below criteria:

  • Achieved a qualifying standard since January 1st 2017 according to the Athletics Australia Standards (You do not need to compete in the same event at the Victorian T&F Championships, but you must compete in at least one event)
  • Finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd, at either the 2017 Victorian All Schools, or the 2018 Victorian Junior Championships

The 2018 Victorian Multi Championships was postponed due to extreme heat on Saturday 6th January. A new date and venue has been confirmed as Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th March 2018. No further entries will be taken for this competition.

RULES OF COMPETITION

Age determination: Age group calculation is taken from the 31 December 2018. Overage athletes (40+, 50+) age group calculation will be taken from the first day of competition 3 March 2018.

Mixed Competition: Both male and female athletes must compete in their own gender events for these championships. No athlete will be permitted to compete in another gender event at any Athletics Victoria Championship events (IAAF rule 145).

Simultaneous Events: When an athlete has entered both and National Multi and Victorian Multis events that are conducted simultaneously as one event, the athlete will be entitled to one (1) set of performances only, provided that the specifications for the age group event are the same. These performances will be used to determine the placing’s in both events.

Check-In: Athletes must report to the ATHLETE TIC AREA no later than 1 HOUR PRIOR to the start time of each day of their competition and sign in. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

For all other events athletes are to follow the direction and guidance of the multi events referee appointed to their age group.

Uniforms: Athletes competing in the Victorian Multi-Event Championships ONLY must be attired in their official registered uniform of their first claim Athletics Victoria club uniform with their current Athletics Victoria registration numbers firmly affixed so the entire number and sponsorship information can be easily read. (refer IAAF rule 18).

Athletes competing in the National Junior Multi-Event must be attired in their State uniform (National uniform is to be worn for NZL athletes).

ADDITIONAL RULES PERTAINING TO THE MULTIPLE EVENT CHAMPIONSHIPS:

  1. Combined Events athletes must report to the Admin & Call Room area for the first event of each day of competition.
  2. The Combined Events referee is in charge of the Combined Events and will notify the athletes at the completion of each event when the next event will start.
  3. Athletes must notify the Combined Events Referee if they are intending to withdraw from the competition.
  4. Any athlete who fails to make a start or trial in any of the scheduled events of the competition shall not be permitted to take part in subsequent events, and shall be considered to have abandoned the competition. The athlete in this case shall not figure in the final place classifications.
  5. In all track events a competitor will be disqualified when he/she has recorded two false starts in an event (IAAF Rule 162.7).
  6. Only one system of timing may apply to each track event of a Multiple Event. Therefore if there is a failure of the electronic timing for an event or heat of an event, the times for all heats in that event of the Multiple Event shall be hand times.
  7. All combined event competitions shall be scored using formulae or tables from the IAAF Handbook (2013 Edition) of scoring tables for men’s and women’s Combined Events competitions, with no alterations for age groups.
  8. The Combined Events for the Open age group will be as per IAAF rule 200.

2017 Victorian Track Relay Championships


General Information

The 2017 Victorian Track Relay Championships will again be held at Lakeside Stadium in 2017.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships is a club based competition that offers relays from 4×100 to 4x1500m with the 4x400m finals being run at the Zatopek:10 on Thursday 14th December 2017.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships are a fantastic opportunity for clubs to recruit club members by competing in a team based competition.

Substitution Form

Please remember to send in your teams Check in forms by midnight Wednesday 8 November. This will allow our Administration Team to add in your team athlete names so they can be loaded into the event day meet manager system for results. Teams may also bring them in on the day and check them in.

For those clubs that do not send their team sheets in by the above time, a team manager must then bring their team sheets to check-in  no later than 90mins prior to the first round of their event. Any team that does not check in by this time will be scratched from the event.

Should any team run any athletes in a different order to what was signed and submitted on their team sheet will be disqualified from that race.

Substitutions

Any Substitutions that are required during the day can be made by filling out a form and lodging it 30 minutes prior to the race at administration which is located upstairs on level 1 in the main grandstand.

Athletes wishing to compete in different age groups must follow the below rules:

  • All athletes must be registered AV members by 11:59pm Wednesday 8 November, 2017 to be eligible to compete in this relays event.
  • No athlete can compete in a lower age group than they are eligible for e.g. (U16 cannot run in an U14 event).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 may compete in their age group as well as the open age group e.g. (U14 can compete in the U14 4×100 and the Open 4×100).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 cannot compete in the same event in two junior age groups e.g. (U14 cannot compete in U14 4×100 and the U16 4×100).
  • A junior athlete can compete in two different junior age groups in two different events e.g. (U14 4×100 and an U16 4×400).

Masters Age Group Rules:

  • Relays will be conducted in 10 year age brackets (eg 40-49, 50-59)
  • Age is taken from first day of competition – 11 November 2017.
  • Can only compete once in a particular type of relay eg 4x100m.
  • To form a team an athlete can move down to a younger age group but not up.
  • The age bracket of the team is determined by the youngest member of the team.
  • An athlete can compete in a different age bracket in a different type of relay.
  • Teams can run in any order.
  • All teams must wear their Club uniform and be either a registered financial member of AV or VMA on the day of competition.
  • To set Masters Records all members of a team must be a VMA member.

Eligibility of Teams: Athletes can only compete in their gender specific teams. There are strictly no mixed gender races or teams allowed.

Competing athletes must represent their primary club. Where athletes have selected a secondary club (by purchasing an alternate first claim with membership) the athlete must represent their summer club.

Athletes qualifying under Rule 5.3 must wear the official registered uniform of their first claim summer club, with their current bib numbers, as supplied by Athletics Victoria, securely fixed at the four corners to their competition uniform. They shall be worn visibly on the breast and back.

Uniform & Bibs: All athletes competing at the 2017 Victorian Relay Championships must wear their current club uniform and current 2017/18 Athletics Victoria bib numbers. If you forget your bib please go to the administration area to receive a new one. All athletes must compete in AV bibs, if an athlete has registered as an AV Member but has not been assigned a Bib when visiting the Administration Area AV staff will assign you a temporary Bib Number for the day.

Call Room: A Call Room will be in place for the 4x100m relays (Heats and Finals). This will be located on the infield of Lakeside Stadium. All athletes must marshal at this point no later than 15mins prior to their event.

For all other relay events athletes must marshal at their changeover points no later than 15mins prior to their event.

Straight Finals: In the situation where enough scratching’s can cause events to no longer require heats, the final will be held at the final time. These announcements will be made 60 minutes prior to the event start time to allow Team Managers time to substitute athletes if need be.


Venue Information

Catering

Lakeside stadium will have their Kiosk open which provides food, drinks and coffees.

First Aid

St Johns Ambulance will be on site throughout the day. They will be in the player runway which is located halfway down home straight.

Toilet facilities

There are toilet facilities open around Lakeside stadium.

Car Parking

Car parking is available within lakeside stadium car parking and MSAC parking facilities.

Looking after Lakeside Stadium

We are very grateful for the opportunity to compete at Lakeside Stadium.

  • Park only in designated parking bays
  • Take home all rubbish so that we leave the venue as we found it.
  • Do not litter any rubbish. Please use bins provided.
