Get ready for a big summer season

Athletics Victoria is excited to announce the dates of our 2024/25 Championships.

The 2024/25 Track and Field season sees some changes to our championship season, not only in calendar position, but also in events being offered – including new age group events as we begin to match those that are on offer at XCR.

The championship season kicks off with the ProFeet Track Relay Championships, held on the 23rd and 24th of November with more events, more age groups and more opportunities for club vs club competition!

The new two-day competition format will offer additional opportunities on the track including select U20 relays, as well as the return of two field relay events – Shot Put & Long Jump. Keep an eye out on the Relay Championships event page for details.

The 5,000m Championships will be the next State Championship event on the calendar, returning as a lead up to the On Track Nights ZÁTOPEK:10 with Lakeside Stadium host for the U20 and Open Championships.

The 2024 competition year for Athletics Victoria culminates with the On Track Nights ZÁTOPEK:10, with a celebration of athletics at Lakeside Stadium. Following a successful 2023 edition and with On bringing a festival atmosphere to the track once again, we encourage athletics fans of all ages to use the night as a great end of year celebration.

The Lar Birpa Athletics Complex in Bendigo plays host to the Country Championships and kicks off 2025. Held from Friday 24th January to Sunday 26th January, this year we will look to have World Athletics sanctioning for the competition, so make sure that you book your accommodation in early and enjoy Bendigo for the long weekend!

An earlier than usual AUSGP sees the South Melbourne Physio Victorian Track and Field Championships follow suit, to ensure that we can hold the event at Lakeside Stadium.

Due to this, there will be an age group split across the two weekends with the aim to minimise clashes with Little Athletics Regional Championships as well as the Athletics Australia Summer Series.

Weekend 1 will take place from Friday 14th February to Sunday 16th of February – featuring U17-U20 athletes and, for the first time, include certain events for overage athletes aged 40-60+.

Weekend 2 will be held on Friday 21st February to Sunday 23rd February for U13-U16 & Open athletes to round out the usual Track and Field championship period. *

We return to Lakeside for the third consecutive weekend to host the 2025 Combined Event Championships. With car park closures starting to take shape for the AUSGP, the smaller number of participants makes the premier athletics venue a practical choice. This calendar position allows Victorian Athletes to participate in other State Combined Event Championships earlier in the year, use the individual event Track and Field events as preparation for the State Combined events, as well as provide a lead in competition to the National Championships around 6 weeks later.

We are looking forward to releasing the AVSL, Specialist Meets and Club Meets in the coming weeks so stay tuned to our social channels and website.

*Please Note: Some age groups may compete across both weekends once final draft timetables are created to ensure the championships can be held within the required timeframes.
