Entry Standards.

Category A:

Open and Under 20 athletes who have thrown a national qualifier. If there are more than 6 open athletes who have thrown a national qualifying standard, seasons bests (from 01/01/2024) will determine who makes the start list.

Category B:

In the regular case in which a field is not filled through the Category A requirements, the Category B standard is put in place to decide which athletes make up the field. This will be based on the % of the seasons best (from 01/01/2024) when compared to the national qualifying standard for their age group. If an athlete has not reached at least 75% of the national qualifying standard for an event, they will be ineligible to compete during these throwers’ competitions.

Warm Up:

Shot Put & Hammer Throwers will have warm up throws before commencing competition. Number of Warm Up throws will be detemrined by officials. Please take caution of fellow athletes and implements.

Shot Put:

We have taken over the standard 12 entries, due to the high demand of entries prior to Nationals. Field size will increase from 12 to 16. All competitors will recieve 6 throws in competition. Please reach out to Tom Gamble before 5:00pm Friday 28th March (tom.gamble@athsvic.org.au) if you wish to withdraw and give another ahtlete an opportunity to compete.

Hammer Throw:

All competitors will recieve 6 throws in competition. Please note we have taken over the recommended number of athletes in the Shot Put. It is expected the timetable will still run to schedulde, but please be aware the time of competition may be delayed due to the officials from the Shot Put returning to officiate the Hammer Throw.

Competition Bibs:

All registered AV athletes will be required to wear their 2024/25 season bibs. Invitational Athletes who do not have current AV bibs will be able to collect a temporary set at administration located at the top of the grandstand in the administration rooms.
