Siblings Leigh and Alyssa Benbow has continued to dominate the throws events in Victoria with an incredible 7 Gold Medals at the Victorian State Championships on the weekend! The two members from Eureka have seen success at State Championships before but a perfect 7 Gold Medals from 7 events capped off an incredible weekend of athletics
Sister Alyssa saw 3 Golds in the Discus, Shot Put and Hammer events across the weekend as she continues her dominant form at the State level, this followed on from 4 Golds at the States in 2022. Her Shot Put throw of 14.52 metres was a major highlight with another 44.78 metres throw in the Hammer. Competing in the U17 Women’s age-group Alyssa will be looking to continue her gold streak
Brother Leigh ended the weekend with 4 Gold Medals across Discus, Hammer, Shot Put and Javelin! The U14 Men’s athlete saw a PB in the Javelin throwing 29.75 metres before throwing a Hammer 37.35 metres to win Gold. Coming off another 4 Golds at the recent Steigen Victorian Country Athletics Championships, Leigh will have to find room to display another 4 medals.
Older brother Lachlan will compete this weekend in the OPEN field at the State Championships!
