Athletics Clubs
Affiliated athletics clubs are a hub for all types of athletics participants. Whether you are a competitor, coach, official or social member, there is space for you in the clubs, many of which have long and prestigious histories. Athletics clubs participate in events held by Athletics Victoria and may host their own in-club events. Please see further information in the Athletics Victoria By-Laws.
Affiliation runs from April 1st until March 31st of the following year and includes the following:
- Public Liability and Products Liability / Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Access to Club Support from our dedicated team at Athletics Victoria
- Competing Club access to AVSL and XCR Competition across the season

Specialist Groups
Specialist groups are not affiliated athletics clubs; however, they have the right to be represented at the general meetings of Athletics Victoria. Specialist groups do not have a vote at Athletics Victoria Incorporated. Please see further information in the Athletics Victoria By-Laws.
Recreational Running Groups
All Recreational Running Groups look different. Some groups have over 300 members, and others have as few as 20. Members of Recreational Running Groups may participate in events held by Athletics Victoria as Invitation Athletes.
Affiliation runs from April 1st until March 31st of the following year and includes the following:

Event Organisers
AV is the one-stop-shop for event organisers, with AV’s specialist team making the entire event organisation experience markedly easier!
For one, AV can handle your insurance needs, while at the same time, event organisers gain direct access to the expertise of the Athletics Victoria team – a team which itself hosts events nearly every week of the year. In addition, AV can connect you with its vast database of loyal runners and athletes – from grassroots through to the elite.

For example, The Summer Fun Run Series hosted by Summer Fun INC. includes 3 events. The organisers believe they will have around 250 participants per event. This means Summer Fun INC. will have a total of 750 participants for the season. If Jane chooses to run in races one and three, she will be counted as a participant for BOTH race one, and race three. Therefore, Summer Fun INC. falls under a Tier 3 Affiliation.
Please note: groups which host more that 5 events in a year will be charged an administration fee of $150 for events 6-10, and a further fee of $150 will be added for groups hosting more than 11 events within the season.
