SEVERE WEATHER WARNING:
Due to expected high temperatures on Saturday (37 degrees), the meet will commence 2.5 hours ealrier than the predicted DRAFT timetable. With consideration of the health and safety of our Officials, Support Staff, and Athletes, the first field event will begin from 10am with the first track event beginning at 10:30am, with the expectation the meet will conclude by 2pm, doing the best to avoid peak temperatures from 2pm-5pm. To ensure the meet can still go ahead, and operate as efficiently as possible, certian changes have been made to the schedule and competition management:
- All 100m and Hurdles events will be run on the front straight. This is to ensure relaible photofinish equipment is operational, and not have computers and cameras overheating on the back straight. Winds are expected to be Northerlies, which is favourable for a front straight tailwind at Lakeside. All 10 lanes will also be used for seeding.
- Only 13 Female and 13 Male competitors will be confirmed for Long Jump. Refunds will be given to those athletes who have nominated and are unsuccessful in securing a start. As the HVC meets are World Permit Meets, priority will be given to U20 and Open athletes chasing WA points, then higher ranked Junior athletes. (See competition detials below)
For all athletes, please take precaution when warming up and regulating body temperatures post competition. Seek shade, pack waterbottles, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and any other Sun Safety equipment to protect yourselves during the meet. As always, First Aid will be present at the meet for emergencies.
