Athletics Victoria’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the 2022-23 year was held on Wednesday 26 July. The AGM recognised a successful year for Athletics Victoria, highlighted by a strong financial result, and saw the election of new members to the AV Committee.
AV Committee positions
Three positions were up for election at the AGM, with the three-year terms of Committee members Clare Burton and Ian Rickard coming to an end. Both Clare and Ian were eligible to stand for another term, and indeed both renominated.
Having completed his ninth year on the Committee, AV Rules dictated that Jamie Strudley resign from the Committee at the AGM. Jamie’s longstanding contribution to AV was recognised at the Meeting, with his tenure including roles as President (2018-2019) and Treasurer (2019-2022) respectively. The Committee and wider Athletics community extended its gratitude to Jamie for his significant contribution to the organisation and the sport, and wished him well for the future.
Committee make-up post-AGM
The AGM election saw incumbent Committee members Clare Burton and Ian Rickard reinstated for another term, while newcomer Scott Trickett was elected to the Committee.
Scott brings over 30 years of experience in the Media, Communications and Marketing industry, having held senior Communications & Marketing roles with YMCA Victoria, as well as Parkrun Australia. During Scott’s time at Parkrun, the organisation went from hosting a handful of events to hosting several hundred, with participant numbers surpassing 70,000 each week. Scott’s extensive experience will no doubt be a great asset to Athletics Victoria.
Following the AGM, the Committee Executive was voted in unchanged, with Rob Wendel re-elected President for 2023-24, while Michael Carney & Clare Burton will continue as Committee Vice-Presidents. Sam Kinmond will continue her role as AV Treasurer.
