2020 Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards

The 2020 edition of the Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards celebrated the achievements of the inclusive sport and recreation sector in Victoria. The awards recognise sportspeople with a disability and the support structures involved in the industry, including coaches, organisations, officials and volunteers.

Five members of the Athletics Victoria community were nominated, with para-athletes Georgia Powning (Old Xaverians) and Caytlyn Sharp (Athletics South West) winning their respective award categories.

Winners

Marg Angel Junior Sportsperson of the Year
Georgia Powning

The Marg Angel Junior Sportsperson of the Year award recognises Victorian athletes under the age of 21 who have shown a high level of commitment to their sport or recreation activities or achieved outstanding results in their event. A regular Victorian representative with exceptional performances in the T20 middle distance and cross country events, Athletics Victoria, sends their warmest congratulations to Georgia Powning.

PwC Volunteer of the Year
Caytlyn Sharp

The PwC Volunteer of the Year award recognises a Victorian volunteer who over the last 12 months has shown dedication to their particular sport through volunteering, or has demonstrated a commitment to volunteering out of a genuine desire to help others. Sharp has volunteered substantial time in both the Warrnambool and Terang athletic communities. An asset in the development of athletics in the region whilst competing in both national and international competitions, Athletics Victoria congratulates Sharp for her achievements.
