Speaking out Against Prejudice and Intolerance

Athletics Victoria has always admired the values and determination of everyone that participates in our sport.

AV will continue to support our clubs and members to collectively aspire to deliver a welcoming place that is void of intolerance and prejudice. We all have an obligation to treat each other with respect and to stand up and call out behaviour that may cause harm or hurt to another.

The road to a world of tolerance and no prejudices will have challenges, but it is up to all of us to continue to take this step – then another step and another.

As an organisation, we acknowledge that we have much to learn. We do not have all of the answers, but we are committed to educating ourselves, seeking guidance and taking proactive steps to change where necessary.

We will continue to support our members, coaches, clubs and the wider community who are speaking out against prejudice and intolerance. We acknowledge and respect those driving positive change. As one part of the greater community, we can do more. We must do more.

There are a number of organisations who perform incredible work to bring our community together. We find the organisations listed below are valuable places to start.

Victorian Aboriginal Health Service
Federation of Victorian Owners Corporation
Koorie Heritage Trust
Rumbalara
Melbourne Indigenous Transition School
Clothing the Gap
