2017 Victorian Track Relay Championships


General Information

The 2017 Victorian Track Relay Championships will again be held at Lakeside Stadium in 2017.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships is a club based competition that offers relays from 4×100 to 4x1500m with the 4x400m finals being run at the Zatopek:10 on Thursday 14th December 2017.

The Victorian Track Relay Championships are a fantastic opportunity for clubs to recruit club members by competing in a team based competition.

Athletics Victoria will not accept any late entries and emails received after the closing date will not be accepted.

NOTE: Please be aware that following the closure of entries, AV will publish a provisional timetable with allocated provisional times.

Refunds

Entry fees will only be refunded if a cancellation is received in writing to competitions@athsvic.org.au  prior to entries closing. Any refunds after this time will be processed only if the written notification is accompanied with a medical certificate before the first day of competition.

Substitution Form

Please remember to send in your teams Check in forms by midnight Wednesday 8 November. This will allow our Administration Team to add in your team athlete names so they can be loaded into the event day meet manager system for results. Teams may also bring them in on the day and check them in.

For those clubs that do not send their team sheets in by the above time, a team manager must then bring their team sheets to check-in  no later than 90mins prior to the first round of their event. Any team that does not check in by this time will be scratched from the event.

Should any team run any athletes in a different order to what was signed and submitted on their team sheet will be disqualified from that race.

If you believe you will be running late for check-in, please call AV on 0447 202 160.

Substitutions

Any Substitutions that are required during the day can be made by filling out a form and lodging it 30 minutes prior to the race at administration which is located upstairs on level 1 in the main grandstand.

Age Groups

Age groups are taken from the 31st of December 2017

 Please note: Overage athlete’s age group will be taken from the day of competition 11 November, 2017.

Athletes wishing to compete in different age groups must follow the below rules:

  • All athletes must be registered AV members by 11:59pm Wednesday 8 November, 2017 to be eligible to compete in this relays event.
  • No athlete can compete in a lower age group than they are eligible for e.g. (U16 cannot run in an U14 event).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 may compete in their age group as well as the open age group e.g. (U14 can compete in the U14 4×100 and the Open 4×100).
  • A junior athlete U14 – U18 cannot compete in the same event in two junior age groups e.g. (U14 cannot compete in U14 4×100 and the U16 4×100).
  • A junior athlete can compete in two different junior age groups in two different events e.g. (U14 4×100 and an U16 4×400).

Masters Age Group Rules:

  • Relays will be conducted in 10 year age brackets (eg 40-49, 50-59)
  • Age is taken from first day of competition – 11 November 2017.
  • Can only compete once in a particular type of relay eg 4x100m.
  • To form a team an athlete can move down to a younger age group but not up.
  • The age bracket of the team is determined by the youngest member of the team.
  • An athlete can compete in a different age bracket in a different type of relay.
  • Teams can run in any order.
  • All teams must wear their Club uniform and be either a registered financial member of AV or VMA on the day of competition.
  • To set Masters Records all members of a team must be a VMA member.

Eligibility of Teams: Athletes can only compete in their gender specific teams. There are strictly no mixed gender races or teams allowed.

Competing athletes must represent their primary club. Where athletes have selected a secondary club (by purchasing an alternate first claim with membership) the athlete must represent their summer club.

Athletes qualifying under Rule 5.3 must wear the official registered uniform of their first claim summer club, with their current bib numbers, as supplied by Athletics Victoria, securely fixed at the four corners to their competition uniform. They shall be worn visibly on the breast and back.

Uniform & Bibs: All athletes competing at the 2017 Victorian Relay Championships must wear their current club uniform and current 2017/18 Athletics Victoria bib numbers. If you forget your bib please go to the administration area to receive a new one. All athletes must compete in AV bibs, if an athlete has registered as an AV Member but has not been assigned a Bib when visiting the Administration Area AV staff will assign you a temporary Bib Number for the day.

Call Room: A Call Room will be in place for the 4x100m relays (Heats and Finals). This will be located on the infield of Lakeside Stadium. All athletes must marshal at this point no later than 15mins prior to their event.

For all other relay events athletes must marshal at their changeover points no later than 15mins prior to their event.

Straight Finals: In the situation where enough scratching’s can cause events to no longer require heats, the final will be held at the final time. These announcements will be made 60 minutes prior to the event start time to allow Team Managers time to substitute athletes if need be.

Lakeside stadium will have their Kiosk open which provides food, drinks and coffees.

First Aid

St Johns Ambulance will be on site throughout the day. They will be in the player runway which is located halfway down home straight.

Toilet facilities

There are toilet facilities open around Lakeside stadium.

Car Parking

Car parking is available within lakeside stadium car parking and MSAC parking facilities.

Looking after Lakeside Stadium

We are very grateful for the opportunity to compete at Lakeside Stadium.

  • Park only in designated parking bays
  • Take home all rubbish so that we leave the venue as we found it.
  • Do not litter any rubbish. Please use bins provided.
  • Make sure your athletes leave the toilet blocks in a respectable state.

The 2017 Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships are a three-day Championship event comprising of both Track & Field Events for High School students. It is the perfect way for students to take part in inter-school sport and compete against the very best.

Participating athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the 2017 Australian All Schools Track & Field Championships.

Athlete Check In

Athletes must check-in at least 1 hour prior to their event in the Athlete TIC area. Athletes who do not check-in will be scratched from that event. Pole Vault athletes must check-in 90 minutes prior to the first scheduled round.

Please Note: If you are running late for Athlete Check-In for any reason and wish to contact a member of the Athletics Victoria staff on the day please contact 0447 202 160.

Insufficient athlete check-in will result in:

  1. Where heats, semis and finals have been scheduled in the timetable. If insufficient athletes report to the TIC by the required time for heats requiring progression to semi-finals, then the semi-finals shall be cancelled with the heats run at the HEAT TIME.
  2. Where heats, semis and finals or heat and finals only have been scheduled in the timetable. If insufficient athletes report to the TIC for the need to conduct heats or semi-finals, then only the athletes who reported and signed in will progress to the final. The final will be held at the heat time.

Call Room

All athletes must report to the call room prior to any event in which they compete (heats, semi-finals and finals) at the times specified below. Athletes must be dressed in their competition uniform and ready to compete.

Any athlete who does not report to call room will be disqualified. In the case of a clash of events please fill out a clash of events form which can be found in the call room.

Athletes will be marshalled and their competition uniforms, bib number(s), hip numbers (if applicable), shoes and other equipment will be checked to ensure they comply with competition rules. Athletes are not allowed to leave the call room once they have checked in, until a marshal accompanies athletes to the start line. Any athlete who does not proceed to the start of the event with the marshal will not be allowed to compete.

 Multi-Class Events

Para athletes will compete together in the same event, these athletes have been separated into the U16, U18 & U20 age groups. Medals will be presented in those genders and age groups throughout the weekend. Please Note: The Australian All Schools Championships only have events for the U16 & U18 age groups for Para athletes. Only U16 & U18 age group participants will be eligible for the Vic Team.

Field Attempts

U17 – U20 age groups: Three (3) attempts, with the top eight (8) to then get three (3) additional attempts.

U14 – U16 age groups: Three (3) attempts, with the top eight (8) to then get one (1) more attempt.

*PLEASE NOTE: In the event of a tie in the High Jump and Pole Vault events, a jump off will be used to determine placing’s if athletes are still tied after a count back.

Nationals Selection

The Victorian All Schools Championships are the selection trial for the Victorian Team contesting the Australian All School Track & Field Championships. As such, participants who do not compete at these championships will be ineligible for selection to the Victorian team.

  • Athletes placing first and second in U14*, U16 and U18 events at the Victorian All Schools will be automatically selected. (Automatic Qualifier)
  • Athletes placing first in U15 & U17 events will be automatically selected. (Automatic Qualifier).  The U15 & U17 athletes will compete “up” an age group at the Australian All Schools (ie. U15 competes in U16 age group)
  • Two Para-athletes will be selected per event in the U16 & U18 age groups. The best performed athletes as per the Athletics Australia MDS Tables will be selected.  These athletes must appear on the AA Classification master list.

*U14 athletes MUST be born in 2004 or 2005 to be selected.  The 3000m, 2000m steeplechase and 200m hurdles are NOT offered at the Australian All Schools Championships for the U14 age group.

 HOW TO CONFIRM YOUR SELECTION

FULL PAYMENT of Team Levy and Entry Fees by 5pm on Monday 6th November via the AV member portal will confirm a team position for Automatic Qualifiers.

IMPORTANT: Athletes in Automatic Qualifying (AQ) positions will forfeit their team position if full costs are not paid by 5pm of Monday 6th November. Team positions will be re-offered to Non-Automatic Qualifiers that have completed an expression of interest form.

COSTS

National All Schools Championships Team Levy

$750 plus $30 per event

The team levy covers return flights Melbourne-Adelaide-Melbourne, 3 nights accommodation, meals (excluding sun dinner), transportation and provision of Management/Coaching/Physio services.

National All Schools Knockout Team Levy

$460 plus $30 per event

The team levy covers 3 nights accommodation, meals (excluding sun dinner), transportation and provision of Management/Coaching/Physio services. Athletes will be required to make their own flight arrangements, but must check-in with Management at the Team Accommodation prior to 5pm on Thursday. Athletes will be released from the care of team management at the conclusion of the event on Sunday.

 NON-AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR SELECTION

  • Athletes who do not automatically qualify by way of placing, but want to be considered for Australian All Schools selection MUST nominate their interest prior to 5pm Monday 6th November – athletes who do not express interest will not be eligible for selection

It’s school against school in an exciting, team-based athletics event as School Knockout returns for 2017!

This unique, nationwide competition pits teams of five to nine athletes against each other across three age groups. The performance-based scoring system allocated points for fixed time or distance standards. This allows teams to go head-to-head across various events where every centimetre and split second for every team member counts!

Athletics Victoria will allocate roles for all helpers and share this information with your primary sports contact prior to the event. It is compulsory for your school to assist with your designated tasks on event day.

Please advise your helpers to report to the Cathy Freeman Room here at Lakeside approximately 15 minutes prior to their rostered shift. This will allow them to sign in, collect their required gear and make their way out to their post.

Please read and follow all signage accordingly.

The 2017 Victorian Track & Field Championships continues at Lakeside Stadium over the weekend of the 3rd-5th March. Events are offered across all age groups and abilities with selection to the 2017 Australian Junior and Open Track & Field Championships on offer.

Weekend 1 Results

 

The first weekend of the 2017 Victorian Track & Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium brings the Junior and Open athletes together over a bumper weekend of Track and Field Competition with the second weekend and program to continue a week later.

JUNIOR ATHLETES  WANTING TO COMPETE IN THE AUSTRALIAN TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS MUST COMPETE AT THE VICTORIAN TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR SELECTION.

2016 Victorian Track Relay Championships

Date: Saturday 26 November, 2016

Entry Price: $30.00 per team/event.

Cancellation/Refund: Entry fees will only be refunded if a cancellation is received in writing to prior to entries closing. Any refunds after this time will be processed only if the written notification is accompanied with a medical certificate.

How to enter: 

  • Club representative will need to enter via the online AV club portal – Your club president/registrar will have the login details for this portal.
  1. Click on the ‘Events’ tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Select ‘2016 Victorian Track Relay Championships’ and click on ‘Register As’ and select ‘Club‘.
  3. Choose the number of teams and age division you want to enter teams into. Click on ‘Register’ next to each event you enter, this will add it to your shopping cart, located on the top left of the screen.
  4. Click on the Shopping Cart and proceed to checkout.

Please Note: Individuals do not enter themselves into this competition. Only club registrars or representatives can enter teams in.

Athlete Eligibility: Athletes must be 2016/17 registered AV members by 11:59pm Wednesday 23 November, 2016. After this time athletes will not be eligible to compete in the Track Relays event.

Age Groups: Age is taken from 31 December, 2016. Overage athletes age will be taken from the day of competition 26 November, 2016.
