IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – XCR Youth Relays and All Schools Relays CANCELLED

After careful consideration and consultation with state government officials and Stakeholders in regards to the safety of all competitors, it is with regret that the team at Athletics Victoria have made the difficult decision to cancel the XCR Youth Relays and All Schools Relays on Saturday 11th July in light of the developing situation of increased COVID19 cases in Victoria.

The safety of all our members is paramount and with the increasing number of community transmission cases, the increased risk profile does not warrant commencement of competition at this time.   We also advise that under the current circumstances, the plans to resume XCR competition (mass participation) will be on hold until further advice is provided by DHHS on the outcomes of the current restrictions to stop community transmission.

Non contact competition for adults can resume in Victoria provided participants remain 1.5m apart. On average, Rounds of XCR competition have 750 competitor results. A majority of public reserves and parks where AV has traditionally conducted competition remain closed, or are not accepting permit/booking applications.

Clubs and Specialist Groups can conduct non-contact competitions for all age groups provided competitors remain 1.5m apart at all times and all other requirements are met including social/physical gathering rules, good hand hygiene, collecting names of all persons participating and restricting spectators to groups of no more than 10.

We ask that any club wishing to operate training and competition abide strictly to the ‘Return to Play’ guidelines defined by Sport and Recreation Victoria.

We ask that all members and patrons follow the ‘BE COVID SAFE’ principles. If you are ill or experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, stay at home and speak to your doctor about getting tested.
