2023 ON XCR: Round 10 – Tan Relays

Date: Saturday 16th September 2023

Entries Close: ENTRIES CLOSED – Monday 11th September 2023, 11:59 am (Midday)

Location: Pillars of Wisdom (opposite Swan St Bridge) Tan Track, Melbourne, VIC 3000

The 2023 On XCR season culminates back at the home of racing in Melbourne, The Tan. Athletes will complete one lap of the 3.8km circuit in the hope of bringing the 2023 On XCR premiership to their club. On what is always a great day of racing, we would love to see all clubs set up their club tents on the lawn and enjoy the morning along the Yarra River.

Club administrators are responsible for completing team entries for XCR Relay events, not individual athletes. Any queries regarding team selection should be directed to your club.

Bibs: In the 2023/24 season, there will be no cloth bibs issued. We are committed to reducing our footprint on the environments we use. Your new timing bibs are now made from hardier material, designed to last the whole season. Please ensure you care for your bibs, e.g. do not machine wash, do not fold. Lost or damaged bibs will incur a new bib fee.

Club Marquees:

Clubs are encouraged to bring their club tents and set them up on the grassland at The Tan. CLUB MARQUEES MUST BE LOCATED 4.5m AWAY FROM ANY TREE.

There is strictly no pegging of Marquees. All marquees must be weighted, any clubs found to be pegging will be asked to replace them with weights or remove their tents.

Pegging of marquees greatly jeopardises Athletics Victoria’s permit with the City of Melbourne and may result in not using the location for future events if broken.

Please ensure you bring enough weights for the expected winds. You may be asked to remove walls or lower marquees if you do not have the required weight for safety of all patrons.

Looking after The Tan:

We are very grateful for the opportunity to compete The Tan. Clubs are asked to remind their members of the following:

  • The track is not closed to the general public, it will be a shared pathway throughout the event. Please be courteous to all users of The Tan
  • Athletes are to be mindful turning at any blind corners of the general public traveling in the opposite direction.
  • Please take Caution when approaching gateways & roadways around the course.
  • Park only in designated parking bays
  • Take home all rubbish so that we leave the venue as we found it
  • Do not litter any rubbish along the course. Please use bins provided
  • Make sure your athletes leave the toilet blocks in a respectable state.
  • Please adhere to and respect the City of Melbourne’s rules, regulations and permit.

Parking:

There is a large amount of parking available along Alexandra Parade.

Team Sheets, Relay Bibs & Electronic Timing Tags:

  • Team managers are now required to complete their relay teams via ResultsHub. These can be completed up until the completion of the event. We ask where possible for teams to submit their athlete names prior to the start of competition so as to allow us to check results and team status in a timely fashion to be able to present medals shortly after the completion of the events.
  • Teams are expected to return all relay bibs and electronic timing tags upon the conclusion of their race. Please note that an $80 replacement fee will be invoiced to the club for any electronic timing tags not returned.

If you have issues entering the event please contact Athletics Victoria PRIOR to the closing date. This can be done via email to sportdelivery@athsvic.org.au or by phoning the Athletics Victoria office on 7032 8400 (Craig Wallace). Please leave a message explaining the issues you are experiencing. Athletics Victoria will not accept any late entries. Emails received after the closing date will not be accepted.

NOTE: Please be aware that following the closure of entries, AV will publish a provisional timetable which will take the place of the Draft Timetable.
