With season calendars having been finalised by World Athletics and Athletics Australia, Athletics Victoria has made the decision to switch the dates of the Victorian Track and Field Championships for our Junior U14 – U18, and our U20 and Open Track and Field Championships.
The Junior Victorian Track and Field Championships (U14-18) will now run from Friday 24 – Sunday 26 February, and the Open and U20 Victorian Track and Field Championships will now take place on Friday 3 – Sunday 5 March 2023.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however, the change accounts for the proximity of the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst on February 18, and the Melbourne Track Classic (MTC) on Thursday 23 February. By changing the dates of our State Championships, this now maximises the opportunities for Victoria’s premier athletes to compete against international athletes on the track at the MTC, whilst remaining available to contest the State Championships the following weekend.
Both weekends of the Victorian Track and Field Championships will still be hosted at Lakeside Stadium with the same draft timetable operating.
