Entry Level

Athletics Victoria offers competitions throughout the year, split into two distinct seasons XCR (April – September) and Track & Field (October – March) and caters to people of all abilities.

Club Competition
Inter-club competition focused on getting involved and having fun. Learning the basics and the platform to progress up the ranks and enjoy participating with fellow club members.

Senior State Competition

Victorian Open Championships
Athletics Victoria’s championship events provides the platform to compete against Victoria’s best athletes. With competition for junior, open and masters athletes covering track, field, relay and multi-events. Our championships are a stepping stone towards national-level competition, giving you the chance to earn Victorian team selection and represent your state against Australia’s best.

AV Target Talent Program

The Athletics Victoria Target Talent Program (AVTTP) is a high performance pathway program funded and regulated in partnership with Athletics Australia. It is strongly aligned with activities of the Athletics Australia High Performance Department.

Selected athletes who meet the inclusion criteria and their personal coaches will be invited to attend AVTTP Squad Days which will incorporate a combination of relevant event group training clinics and both general and event-specific education workshops.

Junior State Competition

Victorian All Schools and Junior Championships
Athletics Victoria provides school athletes from under 14 to under 20 age groups the opportunity to compete against the states best and achieve selection for the Australian Schools Championships.

Note: There is no Under 20 age group at the Australian All Schools Track & Field Championships.

Victorian Junior Teams

Australian All Schools Championships
The annual track and field event pits athletes aged under 14, under 16 and under 18 against each other in the race for coveted national school titles, culminating in a three-day event including athletes from schools across the country.

Australian Athletics Junior Championships:
To compete in the Australian Athletics Championships and/or Australian Junior Championships, athletes must either place at the relevant State Championships, or equal or better the Athletics Australia entry standards.
