Athletics Victoria is pleased to present the 57th edition of Zatopek:10 2017.

A celebration of Athletics featuring the Australian 10,000m Championships and the Victorian State Championships. Entry Information is set out below.  To enter click on the Event Page button below.

Event Information

Date: Thursday 14th December 2017
Venue: Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park

Entries will be made available in due course.

Athlete Information

All entries must be completed online before the closing deadline. Please note that your entry does not guarantee automatic selection into the event and athletes will be informed of their selection following the closing date.

Event Entry Information

Entry Standards – Zatopek Women’s and Men’s 10,000m

To be eligible for selection, athletes must have achieved the following entry standards.

Men’s                   10,000m                                            29.45

Women’s             10,000m                                            35.30

Entry Process –

Event entry is now available online at www.athsvic.org.au and entries will close 12.00pm (midday) Thursday 30th November 2017.

Please note – your entry will not automatically guarantee you a place in either event.

Athletes selected in the final fields for both Men’s and Women’s events will be emailed by 5.00pm Friday 1st December 2017 and the entry list posted on the Athletics Victoria website.

All athletes will be required to enter online at www.athsvic.org.au and must be a current financial member of an Australian State/Territory Member Association or an International equivalent IAAF affiliated Association/Federation.

Entry Fee:      $30 inc GST (athletes that are not selected in the final field will be refunded the entry fee)

Selection Process (Zatopek Women’s and Men’s Event): –

The following selection process will apply: –

Priority 1             athletes that have achieved the qualifying time over 10,000m (track) at an official 10,000m track event on or after the 1st January 2016; then

Priority 2             athletes that have achieved the qualifying time in a 10km road event on a IAAF – AIMS certified road course; then

Priority 3             athletes that have not achieved the entry standard but have competed in a 10,000m or 5000m (track) event or a 10km or 5km IAAF-AIMS certified road event.

*Automatic selection via finishing in the TOP 3 in a State Championship will not apply to this event where an athlete has not achieved the entry standard

*As this event is a National Championship places in the final field will not be provided for pace runners.

*Athletics Victoria and Athletics Australia will determine the final field in their absolute discretion.

Event Status

The following events will run concurrently with the Zatopek 10 Men’s and Women’s 10,000m: –

  • Zatopek 10 (prizemoney) – first three placegetters
  • Australian National Championships – first three registered Australians in the event
  • Victorian State Championship – first three registered Victorians in the event

Ondeicki U 20 Women’s 3000m & de Castella U 20 Men’s 3000m

Athletes are invited to submit an entry via the AV online portal. The final field selected for both events will be determined in Athletics Victoria absolute discretion by 5.00pm Friday 1st December 2017 based on the number of entries and the performances of athletes.

Entries close 12.00pm (midday) Thursday 30th November 2017.

Interstate or International athletes that require early confirmation of their entry to book flights and accommodation can request confirmation before the closing date by contacting Athletics Victoria CEO Glenn Turnor on glenn@athsvic.org.au or by calling +61 3 8646 4506.

Interstate athletes should not book flights or accommodation until your entry is confirmed. Athletics Victoria will not be responsible for any costs incurred where confirmation of entry as set out above has not occurred.

Invitational Open Women’s 1500m and Open Men’s 1500m

Athletes are invited to submit an entry via the AV online portal. The final field selected for both events will be determined in AV’s absolute discretion by 5.00pm Friday 1st December 2017 based on the number of entries and the performances of athletes.

Entries close 12.00pm (midday) Thursday 30th November 2017.

Invitational Open Men’s Shot Put

With a maximum of eight (8) places available, athletes are invited to submit an enter via the AV online portal. The final field selected for both events will be determined and published by 5.00pm Friday 1st December 2017.

Preference will be given to the Top 8 ranked males.

It is easy to travel to the 2017 Zatopek:10 across Melbourne’s public transport system:

Yarra Trams:
Route 96: St Kilda Beach to East Brunswick – 2-8 per hour (Every Day)
Route 12: Victoria Gardens to St Kilda – 5-6 per hour (Every Day)

Those traveling by Metro Train services are best to connect to the Yarra Tram Services via Southern Cross Station.

Limited parking is available at Lakeside Stadium so we recommend public transport for spectators.
