What is Zone v Zone?

AV Shield is the cornerstone competition for club athletes throughout the state of Victoria with seven zones, made up of four metropolitan and three country zones. AV Shield caters for all athletes of any ability level, age or gender.

  • For the 2015/16 season AV Shield will now include ten (10) rounds of competition plus an AV Shield Final with the introduction of a Zone v Zone competition within the AV Shield structure. Within the AV Shield competition rounds 3, 8 and 9 will be Zone versus Zone competitions where one Zone will compete against another. This provides additional competition for members and an opportunity to compete at new venues. The current competition pathway allows for a greater level of competition with three (3) zone rounds and an AV Shield Final that will be sanctioned National Permit Meets (therefore all performances will be recorded and eligible for International selection purposes).
  • 2015/16 will see some changes to the Zone V Zone format.  There is no Zone v Zone Final this year. The winner of the Zone Final (Alan Glover Shield) will be scored virtually with the trophy presented at the AV Shield Final.
