Victorian Trail Running Championships

Event Information

The Victorian 16km Championships is the longest continuously held running endurance event in Australia and only 2nd to Stawell Gift in history. The expansive trail network of Lysterfield Park Lake in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs will for the 2nd year host the event with 16km, 8.5km and 6km distances.

Entry Information: 

All XCR’19 and Max Package holders will receive an entry into their age relevant competition. AV Members (individual entries or package holders) will be expected to wear their 2019/20 AV Timing Chip and Cloth Bib for the competition.

Athletes must register via the Athletics Victoria website.

Athletics Victoria will not accept any late entries and emails received after the closing date.

All events will start at the time listed above, please arrive early as the start will not be held for athletes who are running late.

Please note: Event timing will conclude at 12:30pm, athletes finishing after this time will not receive a time.

Presentations will be made as soon as possible following the completion of the race.

If an athlete fails to make their event start time, please go to the AV Administration tent to seek advice on joining another race as an invitational athlete. The competition director is the only person who can approve an athlete changing races on the day of the event.

Non-finishing athletes:

Any athlete who cannot complete the course for any reason and pulls outs before crossing the finishing line MUST report to the competition director or an official at the finish line. This is to ensure all athletes are accounted for on the course before event pack up begins.

Race results:

In order to facilitate the prompt publication of the finalised results, team scores and ladders, all results queries must be submitted to Athletics Victoria’s via email (xcr@athsvic.org.au) within 72 hours of the first set of published results. All queries submitted after this time will not be included in the final event results.

Timing Bibs:

Members who have purchased an XCR’19 Package, Max Package or individual event entry, will be expected to wear their 2019/20 AV bib numbers. Non-AV members will have a one-use bib available for them to pick up on the day of competition.

The timing tag will be attached to one of the bibs and this is to be worn on the front.

All athletes MUST wear their AV allocated bibs, front (timing tag bib) and back, at all times during the race. If an athlete fails to wear both bibs they may be disqualified.

Athletes that require a replacement bibs must contact the AV office by 11.59am Wednesday 25 September to ensure we have it available for you on the day.

General

Car parking:

Plenty of car parking is available around Lysterfield Lake.  All cars must park in allocated car parking areas. Please be aware that ticketed parking may be in force. Athletics Victoria is not responsible for any fines that may be issued.

First Aid:

St Johns Ambulance will be on site throughout the day. They will be situated at the start/finish line, if anyone needs first aid please ask an official/club helper to radio through and first aid will be out to help.

Looking after Lysterfield Lake:

We are very grateful for the opportunity to compete at Lysterfield Lake. Clubs are asked to remind their members of the following:

  • Park only in designated parking bays
  • Take home all rubbish so that we leave the venue as we found it
  • Do not litter any rubbish along the course. Please use bins provided
  • Make sure your athletes leave the toilet blocks in a respectable state

Lysterfield Park is managed under the National Parks Act, therefore dogs are prohibited (Penalties apply).
