Geelong Half Marathon
Athletics Essendon’s Liam Adams ran 1:05:52 (uncertified course) to win the Geelong Half Marathon ahead of Nick Earl and Dion Finocchiaro. In the women’s race, Glenhuntly’s Karinna Fyfe took the win in 1:17:42 from Ellie O’Kane and Erchana Murray-Bartlett.
IAAF World Relay Championships
In the Bahamas it was the Women’s 4x800m team featuring Abbey de la Motte and Zoe Buckman who grabbed the bronze medal behind Belarus and the United States with a time of 8:21.08s. The Women’s 4x400m team featuring Morgan Mitchell just missed out on a podium finish, crossing the line in fourth place, with a time of 3:28.80s. Over in the Men’s division for the 4x800m and it was Jordan Williamsz and Luke Mathews who put in great performances to ensure a fourth place finish for their team with a time of 7:20.10s.
Lisa Weightman had a point to prove over in London – and she did just that! Finishing in 5th position with a time of 2:25:15. Lisa now sits at number 3 all time in Australia and the fastest in 11 years with a huge personal best!
