AV Shield – Final

Just as we were all coming down off our Nitro high, we were thrown a lifeline…

The AV Shield Final.

To say there was a lot going on (program-wise) would be an understatement. There was plenty.

Steeplechase, walks, 1500m, 100m, 400m, 4x100m, long jump, discus, javelin and pole vault – so much pole vault.

What made the day a truly great one was the atmosphere that was created from athletes, spectators, helpers and officials alike. There seemed to be a buzz about Lakeside Stadium, which one can only assume was the residue of Nitro, and Usain Bolt’s presence at Albert Park.

It was great to see Tamsyn Lewis-Manou backing up an awesome/hectic with Channel 7, and donning the Sandringham colours to once again be victorious in the Women’s Open 4x100m.

An overall great day of competition even though Melbourne decided to throw us a typical winters day!
