What do you get when you bring the fastest man alive to the greatest sporting city in the world? A big ol’ party which you want to be a part of. Trust me.
Usain Bolt loves to run – Fast. He also loves to dance – Hard.
So if you ever thought athletics as a sport had lost its edge, think again! Just like Justin Timberlake did all those years back – Nitro is officially ‘bringing sexy back’ to the track. However, it isn’t a one man show…
There’s going to be some pretty epic home-grown athletes crashing Bolt’s party. Who they are!? Well, Olympic 400m superstar Morgan Mitchell has RSVP’d with a plus one, in Anneliese Rubie. However, given the chance, I’m pretty sure both girls would happily be a part of ‘Bolt’s All-Stars’. And can you blame them…?
OK, so let’s crunch some numbers and logistics:
In total there will be six teams of twenty-four athletes (twelve women and twelve men). However, there’s still some mystery as to how it’s all going to play out. What we do know is that it’s going to be a different spin on traditional athletics and will include a mix of power, endurance, technique and teamwork disciplines across sprints, distance, field and para-athletic events. Mixed events and relays will also feature in the Nitro program as team’s battle for points and the Nitro Athletics Melbourne crown. Rest assured, it’s going to be a wild week on the track!
What the T20 did to cricket, Nitro is sure to do to athletics.
